ETIPS

The Educational Theory into Practice Software originated as a Catalyst Grant from the U.S. Department of Education "Preparing Tomorrow's teachers to Use Technology" (PT3) program. In 2001 the project began creating cases about the Educational Technology Integration and Implementation Principles (eTIPs). These eTIP Cases were presented in the IMMEX software. Test-bed members from thirteen different of higher education institutions all across the United States used these cases in methods, foundations, and technology courses. Their students' work and their feedback helped us to improve and streamline our cases and recommended case methods of instruction.

In 2003 we developed an application that was customized to these case methods of instruction. We continued to use the acronym ETIPS, but it now defines the Educational Theory into Practice Software. This reflects our team's goals to expand the cases to new topic areas and theories. That goal will be achieved starting in 2004 as new cases about urban teacher outcomes, co-authored by members of the Urban Network for the Improvement of Teacher Education (UNITE) come online.
