ETIPS - Make Thinking Visible

Cases on two topics are available in the ETIPS application: Technology Integration and Digital Equity. Each case can be set in one of nine schools: either an elementary, middle school, or high school in either a rural, suburban, or urban setting.

Technology Integration

Cases are based on the Educational Technology Integration and Implementation Principles and correlated to ISTE's NETS-T standards. The six principles state the conditions under which technology use in schools has been demonstrated to be most effective:

Principle 1: Learning outcomes drive the selection of technology.
Principle 2: Technology provides added value to teaching and learning.
Principle 3: Technology assists in the assessment of learning outcomes.
Principle 4: Ready access to supported, managed technology is provided.
Principle 5: Professional development targets successful technology integration.
Principle 6: Professional community enhances technology integration and implementation.

In addition to the cases, for each of the following content areas we have gathered resources to support educators putting each of the six principles into effect in classrooms and schools. These resources have been selected to supplement learning with the cases about how to make each principle a part of a teacher's instructional decision making. Digital Equity

Cases utilize a framework developed by the Digital Equity Network to assist the nation's teacher education programs to better prepare future educators to recognize and address inequitable access to learning technology resources. The principles developed by Digital Equity Network members emphasize the things to which teachers and students should have equitable access; these ETIPS cases are organized into two groups - classroom and leadership.
